I will briefly summarise what we have learned in the past decade about matching multiple models in concurrent dynamical simulations of materials. It is now clear that a remarkable convergence of ideas has taken place in the fields of solution chemistry, quantum mechanical simulation of solids and atomistic/finite element coupling.
