OOEW04 - Structure and Randomness - a celebration of the mathematics of Timothy Gowers Seeking a common generalization of Szemeredi’s Theorem on arithmetic progressions in a set of integers with positive density and Hindman’s Theorem on a monochromatic finite sumsets in any finite coloring of the integers, Erdos formulated several questions and conjectures. In joint work with Joel Moreira, Florian Richter, and Donald Robertson, we prove some of these, showing that any set of positive density contains a shift of a restricted sumset.
