PMV - GeomPack: Geometry and packing in material structure and biology When crystallizing identical hard spheres, densest packings are naturally obtained. This talk investigates two related problems, i.e. the effect of (i) size-dispersity and (ii) confinement on the crystallization of hard spheres. We observe complex structures and an intricate interplay of entropy maximization, densest packings, and kinetics. This talk is part of the Isaac Newton Institute Seminar Series series.
