PMVW01 - 5th International Conference on Packing Problems: Packing and patterns in granular mechanics

We consider multiphase-field models to describe cellular arrangements and their dynamics. How do topological arrangements influence mechanical properties? What is the impact of jamming/unjamming transitions on collective behaviour? And, if considered on curved surfaces, which role plays curvature in these processes. We give an overview of these topics, relate our findings to experimental studies and provide an outlook how these packing problems could help to describe morphogenesis.
