If you have a question about this talk, please contact nobody. MWSW04 - Multiple scattering in engineering and applied sciences The lecture includes modelling of waves in elastic chiral chains, consisting of gyro-pendulums. For simple examples, the combined effect of gravity and of the gyroscopic force is shown in a closed analytical form. When a large periodic cluster of gyro-pendulums, connected by elastic strings, is analysed, the coupling between the longitudinal and transverse displacements becomes important. Dispersion properties of waves in periodic chiral waveguides subjected to gravity are discussed in detail. Green’s kernels are derived and studied for different regimes of the time-harmonic forcing. Illustrative numerical simulations are also provided. The lecture is based on the results of the joint work with A. Kandiah, I.S. Jones and A.B. Movchan.
