DYT2 - Frontiers in dynamo theory: from the Earth to the stars The talk will begin with a gentle introduction to some of the current frontiers of our understanding of nonlinear stability of traveling waves of partial differential equations, especially on how spectral stability implies nonlinear stability and which kind of dynamics may be expected.In a second part, it will focus on a specific part of the frontier, the stability of discontinuous waves of hyperbolic systems, and show a few significant steps obtained by the author with respectively Vincent Duchêne (Rennes) and Gregory Faye (Toulouse).
