NC2W01 - Making the bridge: Exploring new connections between number theory and physics This series of three lectures will provide a brief introduction to the theory of automorphic forms and representations aimed at non-specialists. We will discuss automorphic forms, explain the transition from automorphic forms to automorphic representations and what is gained by doing so, and give an outline of some of the main questions in the field. The third lecture treats the Langlands functoriality conjecture, endoscopic lifts, periods, and the relative Langlands program. This talk is part of the Isaac Newton Institute Seminar Series series.
