NC2W01 - Making the bridge: Exploring new connections between number theory and physics In these talks we will explore a perspective on the Langlands program inspired by electric-magnetic duality in supersymmetric gauge theory. This perspective combines the interpretation of the geometric Langlands program as a duality of 4d topological quantum field theories discovered by Kapustin and Witten, and the arithmetic topology dictionary between number fields and 3-manifolds associated with Mazur, Morishita, Kapranov, Reznikov and Kim. Our ultimate aim is to see how this perspective elucidates the classical relation between L-functions and period integrals, following joint work with Sakellaridis and Venkatesh.
