I will describe an initial foray into looking at how category theory fits into the field of optimization. The dual of the standard optimal transport problem admits a duality within itself which is intimately related to an adjunction arising from a profunctor. I will look at the centre of this adjunction in some detail and relate it to other adjunctions cropping up in other areas.
