We review progress in computing amplitudes from an understanding of their symmetries and singular structure. In particular it is shown how amplitudes may be computed using factorisation and generalised unitarity rather than conventional techniques. Finally recent progress in computing QCD amplitudes in analytic form at two-loop using these techniques is presented.
