The so-called dominant systems are dynamical systems whose asymptotic behaviour is low-dimensional. Here, we consider the development of frequency-domain tools for the analysis and design of low-dimensional behaviours (stability, multistability, limit cycle oscillations). The methodology is illustrated with a generalisation of the circle criterion for the analysis of bistable and oscillatory Lur’e feedback systems.
