I shall explain how exceptional field theory on a torus defines a framework for computing 1/2 BPS soliton loop corrections in supergravity. Their computation exhibits ultra-violet divergence cancelations in an appropriate dimensional regularisation scheme, and the corresponding effective action reproduces the exact BPS protected couplings of the low energy string theory effective action.
