If you have a question about this talk, please contact Joe Waldron. The log minimal model program (LMMP) is an algorithm for finding a special birational model of a given variety. This talk will start off with a general introduction to the program. We will then discuss a crucial semi-ampleness result of Keel which makes it possible to approach the LMMP in positive characteristic. We finish with an overview of subsequent developments on the LMMP for threefolds in positive characteristic. This talk is part of the Junior Geometry Seminar series.
