I will talk about the history and original impetus for its development, why Japanese was so different, what it took to make the whole venture a commercial success, how constraints and requirements for assistive technology products and mass-market mobile products are similar and how they differ, and anything else that might be of interest should anyone ask. Please be warned that there will surely be a certain amount of “hand-waving” involved – it has been several years since I worked on / managed the Japanese T9 project, and I had to leave behind most everything related to the project when I left.
