If you have a question about this talk, please contact Mustapha Amrani. Mathematics and Applications of Branes in String and M-theory I will discuss recent work on moduli stabilization without Neveu-Schwarz three-form flux in Calabi-Yau compactifications of Heterotic M-theory. In particular, I discuss a systematic approach to stabilizing the complex structure moduli in heterotic vacua and how the holomorphic deformations of the gauge bundle can naturally lead to the consideration of multiple Calabi-Yau threefolds, connected by geometric transitions.
