Mathematics and Applications of Branes in String and M-theory

I’ll give an overview of automorphic forms beyond SL(2), explaining some of the highlights of the theory and several of its fundamental unresolved challenges. I will keep to the analytic side, emphasizing the impact of the Langlands’ program and also some results which have been useful in string theory.
