If you have a question about this talk, please contact Xuanchun Lu. Toric varieties are a rich example of algebraic varieties and are the local model for “smooth logarithmic spaces”, which in recent years have been extremely powerful for studying moduli spaces and enumerative problems. We give an introduction to toric varieties, with a view towards applications to tropical correspondence theorems. No background in toric varieties is required.
