TGM150 - 9th Edwards Symposium – Frontiers in Statistical Physics and Soft Matter

We study the dynamical scaling of long-range O(N) models after a sudden quench to the critical temperature, using a functional renormalization group approach. This framework allows us to characterize both short-time aging and long-time relaxation, and to show that their critical properties can be tuned by varying the range of the power-law interactions. Our results substantially improve on perturbative predictions, as demonstrated by benchmarks against Monte Carlo simulations and the large-N limit. Moreover, we extend the effective-dimension approach to non-equilibrium settings. Finally, we highlight a possible thermodynamic advantage of long-range systems in critical heat engines: by relaxing faster near criticality, they enable enhanced finite-time performance.
