EHTW03 - New horizons for equivariance in homotopy theory

In their foundational paper, Nikolaus—Scholze proved that the category of bounded below genuine cyclotomic spectra is equivalent to the category of bounded below Borel cyclotomic spectra.  In this way, they excised the complications of genuine equivariance from the study of topological cyclic homology.  I will explain joint work with Devalapurkar, Raksit, and Yuan, which proposes that genuine equivariance still has an essential role to play.  Time permitting, I may also discuss how this perspective interacts with the arithmetic duality of Rognes’ talk or the equivariant motivic categories of Bachmann’s talk.
