In this talk I will reflect on how the concept of Holonic Systems – the notion of constructing complex systems through the dynamic organisation of multiple autonomous and cooperative entities (Holons) – has influenced my research into human-system and human-technology integration in operational environments. I will present a software platform tailored to supporting this human integration, show some applications of my research in different domains (including manufacturing, mining and maritime) and discuss the future research directions I intend to pursue at the Institute for Manufacturing, such as: Developing and leveraging an augmented workforce; and Enabling Human-AI collaboration in operational environments.
The seminar will be held in the LR3A , Department of Engineering, and online (zoom): https://newnham.zoom.us/j/92544958528?pwd=YS9PcGRnbXBOcStBdStNb3E0SHN1UT09
