If you have a question about this talk, please contact Macarena Arenas. Recently, Kielak and Linton gave a homological characterisation of virtually free-by-cyclic groups among hyperbolic virtually compact special groups. As a consequence, one-relator groups with torsion are virtually free-by-Z, resolving an old problem of Baumslag’s. In this talk, we will discuss a similar characterisation in the larger class of RFRS groups and present some new applications. This talk is part of the Geometric Group Theory (GGT) Seminar series.
