EHTW01 - Introductory Workshop for Equivariant Homotopy Theory in Context

Classically, theta functions are modular forms associated to certain integral bilinear forms. Topological modular forms (TMF) are a ring spectrum refining the classical ring of modular forms. I will explain in this talk how to utilize equivariant TMF to associate to every integral bilinear form an element in pi_*TMF.  This is based on joint work with David Gepner, Sergei Gukov, Slava Krushkal and Du Pei.
