Artist Robert Ssempijja in conversation with Professor Helen Mason Join Cavendish Arts Science Fellow, Ugandan artist, dancer and researcher Robert Ssempijja in an informal conversation with Prof. Helen Mason. Ssempijja will speak about his artistic practice, sharing examples of previous work and discussing some of the questions he is interested in exploring during the Fellowship. Open to all members of the astrophysics group – all professional, technical and academic staff as well as students are welcome to attend and participate in informal Q&A The Cavendish Arts Science Fellowship is designed to support artists to experiment with new approaches to their practice and develop thought-provoking ideas through engagement with physicists and those working in other fields. Artists are selected through an international open call and are invited to spend at least six months of their Fellowship year in residence in Cambridge. The Fellowship supports the Cavendish Arts Science programme’s ethos of experimenting, decentring and re-imagining, engaging artists who explore alternative ways of knowing the world and create work that questions and disrupts the status quo through a playful and experimental approach. The Fellowship is delivered as a partnership between Cavendish Arts Science and Girton College, thanks to the vision and generous support of Una Ryan. Cavendish Arts Science creates collective encounters between art and science that explore the world, our humanity, and our place in the world. We create spaces of re-imagination, where new and unfamiliar forms emerge in radically different ways, transcending conventional artistic and scientific boundaries. https://www.cavendish-artscience.org.uk/ For more information on artist Robert Ssempijja https://www.robertssempijja.com/ Talk recording: link This talk is part of the Hills Coffee Talks series.
