TRHW01 - Workshop on topology, representation theory and higher structures

We start by describing fusion systems of finite groups, of blocks of modular group algebras, and then the abstract notion of saturated fusion systems, going back to work of Puig in the early 1990s. This concept sits right at the intersection of modular representation theory and homotopy theory, drawing on homological methods, as well as in addition on methods from commutative algebra. While the bulk of these two talks are about describing the connections between the above mentioned areas, we will finish with some concrete calculations and conjectures for symmetric group algebras.

This talk is part of the Isaac Newton Institute Seminar Series series.
