MWSW01 - Canonical scattering problems In this talk, we investigate the propagation of waves in a particular honeycomb structure made of thin tubes. Because of the periodicity of the domain, the essential spectrum of the underlying operator has gaps, i.e. intervalls of frequencies wherein the monochromatic plane waves do not propagate. Tuncating the structure along the zig-zag direction leads to the apparition of guided waves propagating along the defect. Making varying the location of the truncation permits to generate spectral flow in the gaps of the associated operator. This talk is part of the Isaac Newton Institute Seminar Series series.
