HYD2 - Dispersive hydrodynamics: mathematics, simulation and experiments, with applications in nonlinear waves The thermodynamics and equilibration of nonlinear chains have been a fundamental question to understand the foundations of statistical mechanics since the seminal work of Fermi-Past-Ulam-Tsingou. We have proposed a new model for a family of nonlinear lattices which includes billiard dynamics. I will describe the main ergodic and thermodynamic properties for the one-dimensional case, a chain, in the large size limit. I will discuss the connection for a smoothed version of the model in the continuum limit and why the hard wall limit is singular.
