If you have a question about this talk, please contact ak2257. I will discuss examples of quantum field theories in three and four spacetime dimensions whose continuous global symmetries can give rise to 2-group global symmetries, non-invertible symmetry defects as well as a more complicated symmetry structure involving a mixture of both concepts. As we will see, ‘t Hooft anomalies for background global symmetries will play a crucial role in this context. This talk is part of the Quantum Fields and Strings Seminars series.
