If you have a question about this talk, please contact nobody. HY2W01 - Modulation theory and dispersive shock waves I start with a brief overview of DSW of the KdV equation, and then propose a problem with a particular initial data for the KP equation. The solution has an interesting 2-dimensional pattern due to the nonlinear interaction of the DSW . I will also give a brief review of the KP solitons as obtained from singular limits of the quasi-periodic solution, which may help to understand the 2-dimensional patterns generated by DSW .
