KA2W01 - Algebraic K-theory, motivic cohomology and motivic homotopy theory

The connection between a  pencil of quadrics with smooth base locus and the geometry of the associated hyperrelliptic curve is classical. We explain in this talk how to obtain period-index bounds for Brauer classes on the hyperrelliptic curve over a number field by finding suitable Grassmannian of zeros of the base locus of the associated pencil of quadrics.
