TURW05 - Advances in geophysical and astrophysical turbulence Increasing computational power of todays supercomputers allow global ocean models to advance into unprecedented resolutions. We introduce a structure-preserving numerical approach that aims to encompass all oceanic scales. First very high-resolution simulations of the global ocean are shown that reveal a new class of phenomena located in between geostrophic turbulence and isotropic turbulence.
