If you have a question about this talk, please contact nobody. TUR - Mathematical aspects of turbulence: where do we stand? Over the last 20 years, computational techniques for polynomial optimization based on sum-of-squares (SOS) relaxations have enabled consider progress in the study of nonlinear dynamical systems. For example, they can be used to prove the nonlinear stability of equilibria, estimate regions of attraction, bound extreme events over finite or infinite time horizons, and bound infinite-time averages. Nevertheless, SOS methods remain relatively unknown outside the optimization and control communities. This talk will introduce researchers at INI to the theory and practice of SOS relaxations, starting from the basics. If time permits, I will give a brief overview of open research questions.
