This talk is based on joint work with Charney and Morris-Wright ( I will motivate the study of Artin monoids before outlining our construction of the monoid Deligne complex, which generalises the notion of Deligne complexes for Artin groups. I will discuss geometric properties of this complex, including the fact that the monoid Deligne complex is always contractible, with a locally isometric embedding into the Deligne complex of the corresponding Artin group.

This talk is part of the Geometric Group Theory (GGT) Seminar series.
