KAHW02 - Algebraic K-theory, motivic cohomology and motivic homotopy theory Motivic cohomology provides the E_2-term of a spectral sequence converging to the algebraic K-theory of a field F. It does not directly take into account the absolute Galois group of F. It turns out that there is a geometric model for the algebraic K-theory of F, build out of the higher dimensional representations of its absolute Galois group.
