HHH - Homotopy harnessing higher structures A result of Hesselholt and Madsen asserts that the ring of components of the topological restriction homology (TR) is isomorphic to the ring of Witt vectors. Trying to prove a real analog of this result leads to a surprising algebraic fact: Witt vectors have an extra functoriality with respect to certain polynomial maps. In this talk we will discuss the extra functoriality and its applications to some problems in algebra and topology. This is joint work with E. Dotto and K. Moi.
