An informal introduction to the Git revision system will be presented with explanations of domain specific terms and following up with pointers to further resources.

This will be within the context of using revision control as one’s “lab notebook” for coding projects during their research. It aims to foster good initial practices, reproducibility and reduce hand-over legacy of code when research is complete. Examples of Git as a facilitator for Unit testing and continuous integration will also be shown.

This talk is part of the RSE Seminars series.
