Is its golden age of exciting and highly paid careers over? “Certainly not”, says Piran Mazaheri, a Chemical Engineering alumnus (1989-1993) and a Fellow of the IChemE. Piran’s career spans design engineering and project management to operations and maintenance in the upstream, midstream and downstream sectors of the industry. He has worked in northern and southern Africa, Middle East, USA , Netherlands and a variety of locations across the UK. His only career regret is to have never stepped on to an offshore installation, despite designing many! In his talk, Piran will give an overview of his career to date and provide an insight into the variety of jobs available to Chemical Engineers within the hydrocarbon industry. He will also discuss what motivated him to remain in the industry and his vision of the long-term viability of a career within the industry. This talk is part of the CEB Career Talks series.
