In this talk we shall explain how Conformal Field Theory can be used to construct ansatzs for the ground state and excitations of quantum lattice systems in 1 and 2 dimensions. This approach is an infinite dimensional version of MPS and provides a common framework to study spin chains and Fractional Quantum Hall systems.

This talk is part of the Theory of Condensed Matter series.
