The subject of quantum computing represents an extraordinary synthesis of ideas from quantum physics and computational complexity theory in theoretical computer science. It promises the possibility of exponentially enhanced computing power and novel modes of communication. It also gives a new perspective on the bizarre strangeness of the quantum world view. In this talk we will introduce the subject and discuss some examples including the notion of quantum teleportation.
