Electroweak production measurements in the forward regionAdd to your list(s) Download to your calendar using vCal
If you have a question about this talk, please contact Susan Haines. I will present recent results of W and Z production in the forward region from the LHCb experiment. Inclusive and differential measurements in the muon decay channel (for the W and Z bosons) and in the electron decay channel (for the Z boson) shall be discussed. Measurements of jet production in associated with a Z boson will also be presented. These results probe regions of phase space inaccessible to the general purpose detectors, and can therefore be used to place important constraints on Parton Distribution Functions. In addition, ratios of these measurements can be used to make precision tests of the Standard Model. Measurements of Z boson decays to tau-leptons shall also be presented, as these can be used to place limits on models of physics beyond the Standard Model. I shall also discuss related future measurements at LHCb, including measurements of single top quark and top quark pair production. The forward region offers unique potential to probe the possible tension in the top pair forward-backward asymmetry seen at the Tevatron. LHCb also has the potential to make the most precise measurement of sin2(theta_W) at the LHC . This talk is part of the Cavendish HEP Seminars series. This talk is included in these lists:
