The next lecture in the CSaP Distinguished Lecture Series will be given by Professor Christopher Bishop, Distinguished Scientist, Microsoft Research Cambridge on 12 May 2011 at 5:30pm. Last November, Microsoft released a revolution in computer gaming: Kinect for Xbox 360. This 3D camera technology allows users to control games using their entire body, without holding or wearing anything special. Kinect sold over 8 million units in the first two months, and has been heralded as the fastest-selling consumer electronics device in history. This talk traces the fascinating story of how Kinect was created, and explores the science behind the technology. It also highlights the role of basic research as a driver of successful innovation. This lecture will be held in Judge Business School. Agenda
