Last talk of term!!! Not to be missed!

In this talk I shall briefly describe the current status of electric propulsion technology for small, manned aircraft; including the electric Lazair microlight we recently adapted – which had it’s maiden flight last year. The basic principles of aircraft flight will be discussed in the context of the limitations imposed by electric propulsion systems – in particular, the low energy-to-mass ratio available in current battery technology. I shall also stray into the realm of hybrid power technology, where electric motors and internal combustion engines can be combined to give the best (or worst !) of both worlds.

This talk is part of the Darwin College Science Seminars series.
