One of the two short-listed sites for the Square Kilometre Array is the Murchison district of Western Australia and the scope of radio astronomy in WA has increased enormously in recent times. The informal talk will look at some of the projects underway and will describe the newly-formed International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR). In particular, ICRAR ’s contribution to collaborative programmes such as PrepSKA and the Aperture Array Verification Program will be outlined.

This talk is part of the Cavendish Astrophysics Seminars series.
