As one of the originators of the interdisciplinary field of Web Science, Professor Sir Nigel Shadbolt seeks to understand the Web at a systems level. His research focuses on how the web evolves and how it changes society. In his talk, he will discuss the exponents of change – ranging from Artificial Intelligence to Web Science. Professor Sir Nigel Shadbolt is Chairman and Co-founder of the Open Data Institute (ODI), which specialised in the exploitation of Open Data supporting innovation, training and research in both the UK and internationally. He is also the Principal of Jesus College, Oxford. His research interests range from cognitive psychology to computational neuroscience, Artificial Intelligence to the Semantic Web. In 2009, he was appointed Information Advisor to the UK Government together with Sir Tim Berners-Lee. He was knighted in 2013 for “services to science and engineering”.
