Modern vehicles have sufficient levels of computing power and communications capabilities to enable a range of new applications. These applications will involve the large-scale collection, processing and dissemination of data, in which vehicles may participate as sources, processors or sinks.
The deployment of these applications is a challenge because of the need to automatically determine which parts of the application are best executed on which processor. I will examine my approach to how this could be achieved and discuss the possible use of some program transformations that are of particular relevance to these applications.
