Tensegrity structures are novel structures with high aesthetic impact. However, up to present, they have only served artistic purposes. This presentation focuses on the structural behaviour of double-layer tensegrity grids and their potential to serve structural engineering applications. Within this context, the experimental results obtained from the laboratory tests carried out on a 25 sq. m half-scale tensegrity space frame are presented and discussed.
This talk is part of the Engineering Department Structures Research Seminars series.
