I will prove that any RAAG is either a direct product or admits many surjections onto alternating groups (in a sense somewhat analogous to locally extended residual finiteness). Similar structural results hold for right-angled Coxeter groups. The technique of proof also implies that fundamental groups of hyperbolic orientable surfaces have many alternating quotients.
