I show how three seemingly different physics problems can be
solved at once. The quantities computed are: the probability distribution
P(M_z) of the magnetization in the ground state of the quantum Ising
chain; the partition function of the anisotropic Kondo problem; and the
entanglement entropy resulting from a point contact in a p+ip
superconductor or a fractional quantum Hall device in the nu=5/2
Moore-Read state.
