Meta-analysis is an important tool in ecology and evolution. In this talk, I explain what meta-analysis is and provide its brief history. I then illustrate these points with an applied example of a meta-analysis on how dietary restriction can prolong lifespan in animals. I finish with ideas on how graduate students and academics can incorporate meta-analysis into their own research.
