If you have a question about this talk, please contact Dr Annelies Mortier. I will discuss prospects for GW detection with AION and AEDGE , atom interferometry experiments focusing on the mid-frequency band. The main emphasis will be on searches for stochastic GW backgrounds that could have been produced in the early universe. The specific sources I will discuss are cosmological first order phase transitions and cosmic string networks. I will also discuss to what extent we can probe the expansion of the Universe using these primordial GW signals. This talk is part of the Institute of Astronomy Colloquia series.
