Many of us have had to learn and adapt to new technology in the workplace over the last 6 months. Additionally, AI is being introduced into certain workplace sectors, replacing humans. These digital trends seem here to stay. Dr Stella Pachidi will share her insights into the intersection between technology, work and organisations, especially in areas of resistance between them. If you’re implementing a new IT system, technology or change management programme of any sort you will want to hear this talk first.

A large proportion of us has had to learn and adapt to new technology quickly, whether that is co-operating as teams on Teams, running and attending webinars on Zoom, or trying to manage your clients or attract new ones with a lack of physical meetings.

Additionally, advances in AI technology can replace human labour in sectors such as the legal and accountancy professions, where routine jobs can now be done by machines. The workplace is changing – how do managers manage in this environment? How do they manage staff resistance to the introduction of technology into the workplace? Technology and the digitisation of work is here to stay. And it’s not without its challenges.

Dr Pachidi will explore the things that managers should be aware of, from balancing the challenges of a technical implementation to managing resistance from users. She will share a case study of her work observing the implementation of AI-based technology into one company, the change management process and the effect on employees….a project which went very wrong.
